KENT BOLLARD INSTALLATION

Heavy-duty bollards in Kent.

A more substantial barrier where the risk demands it.

Heavy-duty bollards use a more substantial post and foundation than a typical parking post. They may be appropriate where preventing vehicle access is the main objective.

WHAT TO CONSIDER

Plan for the site, not just the post.

“Heavy-duty” is a broad description, not a certified rating by itself. We will discuss the intended threat, product specification, footing and clearances before recommending an option. If a tested impact rating is required, it must be confirmed against the exact product documentation.

  • Larger, more visible physical barrier
  • Fixed or retractable options subject to specification
  • Groundworks tailored to the proposed product
SECURITY LEVELS

Match the bollard to the risk.

Protecting a parked car, a shopfront and a commercial entrance are different jobs. Describe the threat first; then compare products.

Visible deterrence

A substantial post can make an entrance less inviting to unauthorised vehicles, but appearance alone does not prove impact performance.

Documented resistance

If you need a specified impact or security rating, ask for the exact model's test evidence and the approved foundation details. “Anti-ram” should never stand in for that documentation.

Fixed or retractable

A fixed post suits a boundary that vehicles should not cross. A telescopic or removable option can preserve occasional access, subject to the ground conditions.

The full opening

Spacing, edges and vehicle paths matter. One strong post can still leave a usable gap if the entrance is not planned as a whole.

INSTALLATION

The foundation is part of the specification.

A heavier post may need a larger footing than a standard parking bollard. Before quoting, the installer should consider the ground, buried services, paving, drainage and whether the proposed layout preserves required access.

We will discuss the actual site and the intended outcome before recommending a model. Product dimensions, finish and any certified rating must be confirmed for the item quoted.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions about heavy-duty bollards

What makes a bollard heavy-duty?

The phrase can refer to a larger or reinforced post, but it is not a test standard. Compare the exact material, dimensions, foundation and documented certification of each proposed product.

Are heavy-duty bollards crash rated?

Some specific products have independently tested impact ratings; many do not. Ask for the certificate and the installation requirements for the exact model if impact resistance is essential.

Can a heavy-duty post retract?

Depending on the product range, there may be fixed, removable and telescopic options. A retractable model also requires adequate below-ground depth and drainage.

How many bollards will I need?

That depends on entrance width, vehicle paths and the opening you still need for everyday or emergency access. The layout should be planned before choosing the number.

Will my insurer recognise the bollard?

Check directly with your insurer before ordering. If it asks for a particular rating, we need to select a product that has evidence for that requirement.

How much does heavy-duty bollard installation cost in Kent?

The installed price varies with the product, foundation, ground conditions, surface reinstatement and number of posts. A site-specific quote is needed.
